Steve Kerr has done many great things for the Golden State Warriors since taking the position of head coach.
He has helped the team win four championships and established the Warriors as the most recent NBA dynasty.
But the team has been in bad shape this year and that has some people wondering what’s next for Kerr.
Will he still be leading the team next season?
Kerr has a strong desire to stick around, and he thinks his job is safe.
“I want to be back,” Kerr said to The Ringer, via NBC Sports.
He went on: “I’ve made that clear every time I’ve been asked about it. The only thing I won’t talk about is just any detail of contract stuff, but I’ve been very open. I want to come back. Joe [Lacob has] told me he wants me back, so I think I’ll be back.”

Kerr has been a major and consistent part of the team and the culture for years now.
Much like Steph Curry, it would be shocking to see Kerr leave the team.
But the NBA is a business and sometimes front offices have to make tough decisions and cut ties with beloved figures.
With that being said, Kerr is likely going to be in charge of the Warriors when next season tips off because he has earned the loyalty and patience of the organization.
Plus, the team has started to look better recently and has won five games in a row.
Still, they have a long way to go before they look like real championship contenders again.
Even if the Warriors don’t fully rebound by the end of the season, Kerr’s job is probably still safe – at least for the foreseeable future.
