When the new season begins for the Golden State Warriors, the team might be without one of its biggest stars.
Draymond Green continues to nurse an ankle injury and it’s not entirely clear if he will be starting with the Warriors next week.
Sitting down with 95.7 The Game, head coach Steve Kerr said Green’s status is unclear.
“Opening night is questionable. He’s not going to play this week,” Kerr confirmed.

Kerr added that Green is doing “real well” and that he’s looking better but it seems like he probably will sit out of the team’s opening game of the season.
Will he miss even more than that?
Green suffered an ankle sprain in September when he came down on Jonathan Kuminga’s foot during a pickup game at Chase Center.
Ironically, it’ll be Kuminga who has to step up with Green off the floor.
So far, Kuminga has had a sensational preseason and might be able to carry that into the months ahead.
Last season, Green scored 8.5 points and 7.2 rebounds a game on a 52.7% field goal percentage.
As always, he was a crucial part of the team’s lineup as well as its culture.
Things got off to a rough start last season, as Green was still enveloped in controversy after punching Jordan Poole during an offseason practice.
That situation was never fully resolved and Poole left the team for the Wizards a few months ago.
Green remains and will hopefully have fewer bumps in the road in 2023-24.
But before he can help the team score some victories, he will have to mend his injured ankle.
