Like many others, Stephen A. Smith believes that the Golden State Warriors are suffering from a number of problems.
On his show, Smith said that he believes the headache caused by Draymond Green is a huge issue for the team.
But he also thinks that Klay Thompson’s season is another massive problem for the struggling squad.
Smith said that he still has faith in Thompson and feels that good shooters never really lose their abilities, so he thinks the former All-Star can be back in good shape again.
He noted that Thompson has been looking better recently so perhaps this rough patch has finally come to an end.
But Smith is well aware of the diminished output from Thompson.
He is averaging 16.8 points per game, which is the lowest since his second season in the NBA.
Additionally, he is scoring 41.8% from the field and 37.4% from the three-point line, which are both career lows.
Thompson is clearly going through a tough time but he’s not the only NBA star who has experienced this.
And many others have bounced back so there is a good chance that Thompson can as well.
However, fans are hoping that the bounce back comes very soon because the Warriors are stuck as the 11th team in the West and their 12-14 record leaves a lot to be desired.
Thompson has indeed looked better over the last few days, scoring 30, 24, and 28 points and shooting as high as 66.7% from the three-point line.
But to prove that this chapter is behind him, Thompson will have to stay consistent from every part of the court.
The rest of the Warriors’ season and Thompson’s contract extension negotiations will be affected by what he does for the rest of the year.
