Rudy Gay’s brief time with the Golden State Warriors has come to an end.
The team announced that they had waived Gay late Friday night after their final preseason game.
Before that news was announced, Monte Poole spoke with Gay.
On Twitter, Poole said that Gay “seemed prepared for whatever came his way.”
And now that his departure from the Warriors is official, it’s time for him to figure out what’s next.
Had a brief postgame chat with veteran Rudy Gay. Seemed prepared for whatever came his way. Played only 15 minutes over 2 games, DNP-CD in the other 3, including tonight. Warriors waived him minutes later, confirming earlier reports

Gay only participated in two games for a total of 15 minutes and was absent from the other three, according to Poole.
His short time with the Warriors came after a season when he played 56 games for the Jazz.
He averaged 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1 assist per game with the Jazz.
He has now been in the league for 17 years and has produced an average of 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Since joining the NBA in 2006, Gay has played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, and Jazz.
He is now 37 years old, which means that some people will question what he will do next.
Could retirement be on the horizon?
That is a possibility, of course, but there is also a chance that Gay finds another team to call home.
Gay has clearly gained a lot of basketball knowledge and expertise over the years.
He could bring tons of wisdom and guidance to another squad, and he would also be inexpensive.
The Warriors didn’t just waive Gay on Friday night.
They also said goodbye to Rodney McGruder, which gives them the flexibility to fill their roster in the first couple of weeks of the season.
