The Golden State Warriors could be looking very different when the season comes to an end.
Stuck as the 11th seed in the Western Conference, the team is looking to greatly improve as soon as possible.
But that means that some big trades might be necessary.
Speaking on ESPN, Adrian Wojnarowski said that the team’s front office is “very open to try to improve this team” via trades in the months ahead.
He admitted that the team will have to make “a lot of difficult decisions” and that other organizations in the league are poking around to see if the Warriors will part with any of their stars.
Wojnarowski said that the Warriors’ main goal is clear: build a strong roster around Stephen Curry and give the team the best chance at returning to the NBA Finals.
To make this happen, they may have to commit to some startling changes.
For most of the season, fans have pleaded with head coach Steve Kerr to shake up the starting lineup and rely more on younger players instead of veterans.
But will the changes go beyond that?
Could some of the most well-known stars on the roster be traded away in order to improve Golden State’s chances?
The NBA trade deadline is in February, which means the Warriors have a couple of months to make a lot of progress.
But even if they do, the front office will be thinking of possible trades they can make.
Obviously, Curry isn’t going anywhere but could other long-term icons on the team be packing up and moving away?
