This season hasn’t been very kind to Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors.
In fact, there is now a lot of speculation about Thompson, who was once a cornerstone of the franchise, possibly leaving the team.
Even with all the troubles he’s had, Thompson remains one of the best passers in the league.
According to BBall Index, Thompson is the third-best forward in terms of passing versatility, which looks at how often a player makes different types of passes.

Thompson sits behind LeBron James and Victor Wembanyama and ahead of Khris Middleton and Kevin Durant.
He’s obviously in some good company with this list.
Inclusion in this group is wonderful news for Thompson, who is having one of the worst seasons of his career.
The five-time All-Star is averaging 17.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on 42.4% from the floor and 38.6% from the three-point line.
Those numbers are a step down from the seasons before and Thompson has clearly had a tough time shaking it off and climbing out of this rut.
Things have gotten so bad that many people believe the Warriors could part ways with Thompson soon.
He is still a talented player and has a chance of rebounding from his problems, which means that the team could get a good return for him in the current trade market.
His passing versatility could help the Warriors if they decide to send Thompson away because it makes him a more attractive trade asset.
A few years ago, the idea of Thompson leaving the Warriors felt beyond far-fetched.
But his hard times have continued and it’s now not as unlikely.
This finding from BBall Index proves that Thompson still has something to offer but no one knows if he’ll continue offering it to the Warriors or if he’ll move on.
