Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors hasn’t had the best season so far.
Of course, the entire Warriors roster has had plenty of problems in 2023-24.
Speaking to the press, via NBC Sports, Thompson had a pretty frank response when he was asked about the patience that head coach Steve Kerr has to have for his starting players.
“You want me to bench me?” Thompson asked before saying that patience is earned and that he isn’t listening to anything the Warriors’ detractors are saying about the team.

Thompson might not look like the five-time All-Star that he is right now but he has certainly done work in the past to earn the patience he is talking about.
His career average is 19.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists on 45.4% from the floor and 41.5% from the three-point line.
Of course, he was also a part of the team’s four championship runs.
This season, Thompson is only posting 15 points but he remains valuable with his 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
His field goal percentage has been noticeably worse this season, at just 40.2% from the field and 36.7% from beyond the arc.
He isn’t looking like the dependable shooter that many people know him to be, but he’s well aware of that.
Thompson clearly knows that he has been struggling in 2023-24 but he’s not ready to take himself out of the starting rotation.
He has had uneven periods before, just like all NBA players, and he has pushed through them and gotten to the other side.
He believes that will happen again and Kerr does as well.
Thompson has started in all 16 games of the season and it seems doubtful that Kerr will shift him to the bench any time soon.
Thompson knows he has earned his spot as one of the team’s starters and he believes he will bounce back.
