Earlier this week, there were reports of Jonathan Kuminga being unhappy about his role with the Golden State Warriors.
During a game against the Denver Nuggets, head coach Steve Kerr chose to bench Kuminga for the end of the game in favor of using Andew Wiggins instead.
This had many fans fuming, and many others were left confused about Kuminga’s position within the team.
Speaking with The Athletic, Kuminga said that he doesn’t want to be battling against Wiggins and really doesn’t want people to believe he is.
“I don’t want it to seem like me and Wiggs are out here fighting every day for minutes,” he said.
In the aftermath of The Athletic’s report that Jonathan Kuminga had lost faith in Steve Kerr, the Warriors’ coach and wing met in Kerr’s office before Friday night’s win over the Pistons.

The Athletic’s reporting found that Kuminga and Kerr had a meeting before Friday night’s win against the Detroit Pistons.
That sit-down meeting apparently went well because Kuminga then played a season-high 36 minutes on Friday.
Although he says that he doesn’t want to compete against Wiggins for minutes, it is very clear that Kerr doesn’t like to have both players on the floor at the same time.
It’s usually one or the other for Kerr, which means Kuminga and Wiggins are in a tough spot.
Kerr has been tinkering with the lineup all season, seemingly never happy with the current rotation that he has.
This obviously hasn’t been easy on the players, who are often left a bit frustrated.
But perhaps the conversation that Kuminga and Kerr had the other day will shed some light on his role moving forward and will give him clarity and stability in the weeks ahead.
