After losing Otto Porter Jr. and Juan Toscano-Anderson this offseason, the Golden State Warriors could use some more depth in their frontcourt.
Jonathan Kuminga may be better suited to playing the 3 than the 4, and the team needs to ensure there’s no real drop-off when Draymond Green either goes to the bench or plays the 5 when it goes small.
On Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that JaMychal Green, a forward with the Oklahoma City Thunder, would be bought out and would join the Warriors once he has cleared waivers.
Veteran forward JaMychal Green is working toward a contract buyout with Oklahoma City, and once that’s completed and he’s cleared waivers, Green intends to sign with Golden State, sources tell ESPN.

Green can help the Warriors and instantly make them look a lot deeper, especially up front.
Green Is A Very Solid Role Player
Green, a native of Alabama who stands 6-foot-8 and 227 pounds, is a nice success story as he went undrafted following four years at the University of Alabama.
He broke into the NBA during the 2014-15 campaign, first with the San Antonio Spurs, then with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Within a few seasons, he emerged as a 3-and-D role player, especially once he joined the Los Angeles Clippers midway through the 2018-19 season.
That spring, the Clippers made some noise by unexpectedly taking two games from Golden State in the first round of the playoffs, and Green was a factor.
He went 12-of-23 from the 3-point line in that series and averaged 11.0 points in 23.5 minutes per game.
Green is pretty athletic, and every now and then he can throw down a big dunk.

He is a good rebounder who has a career average of 5.7 boards in 20.8 minutes per game, and although he may not be a lockdown defender, he is a good one who will bring a concerted effort on a consistent basis.
Green’s 3-point accuracy did plunge to 26.6 percent this past season, but he was playing on a bad team that had a lack of playmakers who attracted gravity.
In Golden State, he will be playing with Stephen Curry, and one would expect that accuracy to improve as he makes defenses pay for keying on the reigning NBA Finals MVP.
In addition to playing the 4, he can play the 5 in a pinch when head coach Steve Kerr wants to go small, which will give him an addition option for such lineups.
Green Will Also Give The Warriors A Bit Of Experience
Outside of Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, the Warriors are a rather young team, and they have a number of players who lack seasoning.
Green is 32 years of age, so while he’s not exactly old, he is seasoned and experienced with eight years of NBA experience under his belt.
He has also been to the playoffs in all but one of his pro seasons with three different squads, so he won’t be afraid of the bright lights and heightened pressure of the second season.
Green will be not just a good pickup for the world champions, but a great one, all things considered.
