If Klay Thompson hopes to earn a significant contract extension from the Golden State Warriors, he will have to be much more consistent than he currently is.
That is what Brian Scalabrine said on SiriusXM NBA Radio when speaking about Thompson’s struggles at the beginning of this season.
He said that Thompson is having some good nights and impressive games but they are “too few and far between,” and that could harm him if he wishes to land a hefty paycheck from the team.
"Now he'll have a couple of good nights but in between some bad nights."

Scalabrine knows a few things about contract extensions, as he spent 11 years playing in the NBA, suiting up for just a few teams during his entire career.
He knows that Thompson will need to bump up his average per game to receive his desired salary.
Right now, Thompson is averaging 15.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per night.
That’s a noticeable step down from his numbers last season: 21.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.
Both his field goal and three-point percentages have dropped off in very steep ways and that is getting a lot of attention from fans and possibly the Warriors’ front office.
They are still trying to work out a contract negotiation with Thompson and some reports have said that the process is weighing heavily on the player’s mind.
Is he struggling because of the pressure to perform well?
This troubled season couldn’t come at a worse time for Thompson and people are wondering how much the Warriors will offer or if they might even toy with the idea of letting him go to a different team.
Thompson has pulled himself out of a slump before but can he do it again before it really affects his bottom line?
