The Golden State Warriors have struggled to be competitive during the 2023-24 NBA season.
While there are many reasons contributing to the team’s downfall this season, arguably one of the biggest reasons is the decline of Klay Thompson.
There was a time when Klay Thompson had the potential to match Stephen Curry in terms of shooting from downtown, and more often than not, he used that ability to win tough games for the Warriors.
Keeping that in mind, Thompson did just that during a game against the Lakers in the 2018-19 NBA season.
Considering how much Thompson has regressed due to his injuries, NBA fans on Twitter remembered the four-time NBA Champion’s 44-point scoring outburst against the Lakers.

The game Klay Thompson hit 10 STRAIGHT 3-POINTERS vs Lakers.
Stats: 44 PTS, 17-20 FG, 10-11 3P in 27 MINS🔥

Should’ve done this last year in the playoffs vs the Lakers. GS would’ve won

Judging by the comments, fans were undoubtedly filled with sadness seeing Thompson’s historic performance against the Lakers.
Klay Thompson finished the game with 44 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists to his name.
He shot a sensational 17-of-20 from the field, including a 10-of-11 performance from the three-point line.
What’s even more crazier is the fact that he did so while playing just 27 minutes against the Lakers.
Thanks to Thompson’s great performance, the Warriors managed to register a 130-111 win over the Lakers.
Looking back at performances like these, it’s no surprise that fans miss this version of Klay Thompson.
Fast forward to today, Thompson is no longer the shooter he once was and helped the Warriors change the outcome of games.
Thompson is averaging 17.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game for the Warriors this season.
