Kevin Durant’s three-year stint with the Golden State Warriors was unarguably one of the best times to be a fan of the organization.
The franchise obviously went to three straight finals when Durant was a member of the team and ended up winning two NBA championships.
Even though Durant is a two-time NBA champion and two-time NBA Finals MVP, his name rarely pops up in the GOAT debate.
Durant recently wondered why he is never mentioned in the GOAT debate, and his former teammate Draymond Green explained the true reason behind it.
Upon hearing Green’s explanation for Durant’s exclusion from the GOAT debate, many NBA fans shared their reactions to it on a tweet by NBACentral.
“You gotta do what Steph did to get into that conversation,” Green said.

He said it perfectly. KD has done nothing without Steph

KD was the best player on that team. but that was not KD’s team

He ain’t wrong. Peak KD is a top 5 player all time. But he chose to take the easy way out at his peak. Meanwhile Steph won two rings without him

In simple terms, Green believes that if Durant wants to be part of the GOAT debate, he simply needs to win a couple of NBA titles without the assistance of another superstar or multiple NBA All-Star-caliber players.
While Durant has won two rings in his career and was arguably the best player on the roster, he had support from three future Basketball Hall of Famers.
On the other hand, Curry carried the Golden State Warriors to the NBA Championships in 2015 and 2022, without the help of Durant.
As a result, most fans agreed with Green’s comments about Durant.
However, there were a few fans who pointed out that Curry may not have won two out of his four rings without the help of Durant.
