History was made on Sunday night by the Golden State Warriors.
With the return of Draymond Green, Chris Paul came off the bench for the first time in his NBA career.
This was obviously a big moment for Paul, but it was one that he embraced in a very mature and thoughtful way.
Speaking about this change after the game, Paul said that it was certainly different, but some things about it were exactly like being a starter.
“Once you get out there playing in the game, now it’s hoopin’,” Paul said, according to a video from NBC Sports.
Paul is willing to start, come off the bench, end games, not end games – anything that his team needs.
“It’s whatever I’ve gotta do to help our team win,” Paul stated.

Paul contributed 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists during Sunday night’s game against the Houston Rockets.
He was a helpful part of their 106-95 win.
For months now, people have been wondering if and when he’d be a bench player for the Warriors.
When he was signed by the team back at the start of summer, it seemed like both he and Stephen Curry couldn’t exist at the same time in the same lineup.
Head coach Steve Kerr and the rest of the team were vague about Paul’s role throughout the offseason.
Paul started in the first two games of the season, but when Green came back a choice had to be made.
Kerr elected to stick with Green in the starting five and initiated a new chapter for Paul’s career.
Now everyone is wondering if this will be Paul’s position moving forward: is he set to remain a bench player or will he be a starter again?
He can clearly do both, so any choice made by Kerr will be for the good of the team.
Based upon his statements on Sunday night, Paul sounds prepared to do whatever he must.
