In 2019, up-and-coming high school basketball star Moses Moody wowed his fellow students with a moving and heartfelt poem.
Years later, the Golden State Warriors shared footage of Moody reciting that poem and it drew a strong reaction from his teammate.
“This powerful,” Warriors rookie Brandin Podziemski said on Twitter after retweeting the footage of Moody’s performance.
Moody’s poem, “He Beat the Streets,” told the story of his uncle who spent time in prison and the other challenges that await many young men trying to do right.
In the video shared by the Warriors, Moody explained his motivation for writing the poem and how it addressed larger issues that he and many others face.

This was back when Moody was attending Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida.
He would then go on to attend Arkansas for college and then be drafted by the Warriors as the 14th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Since then, Moody has found a comfortable spot in the team’s rotation.
This season, the guard is putting up 7.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
However, he has recently seen his time on the court get cut down, but head coach Steve Kerr said it might not be that way for the rest of the season.
As the playoffs approach and the Warriors continue to improve, every player in the lineup will need to be ready to step up and do what they can to help.
As for Podziemski, he is having a great rookie season and is averaging 9.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.
He has quickly become an important part of the team and is now starting in place of Klay Thompson.
Both Moody and Podziemski have shown they have what it takes to really help the Warriors.
But this video also shows that Moody has talent that goes beyond the basketball court.
