Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr just agreed to a massive contract extension and former Warriors general manager Bob Myers believes he’s worth every penny.
“He deserves it,” Myers said while appearing on NBA Countdown Sunday afternoon, via NBC Sports on Twitter.
He went on: “Steve shepparded the team in a way where he had said, ‘Guys, this is going to be the hardest thing you ever do but I’ve done it.’ He knew it. He did it.”
“And for me to be a young GM and to watch him lead that team to a title and then three more later, I’m forever grateful. I wish he got $50 million a year,” Myers said.

Back in 2014, Myers was part of the front office that selected Kerr to lead the team, which had previously been coached by Mark Jackson.
Jackson had found a lot of success but Myers and others believed that there was a lot more potential within Golden State.
Kerr was able to unlock that potential and the Warriors won their first championship in 2015.
Since then, the Warriors have become a dynasty and Kerr has turned into one of the most celebrated coaches in NBA history.
Still, there were questions about his future with the team recently, as the front office hadn’t agreed to a new contract with him.
Some people wondered if the two sides would separate this summer if the Warriors weren’t able to go far in the playoffs.
But it seems that the Warriors and Kerr will be in business together for at least the next two years.
The two-year, $35 million extension they signed last week makes Kerr the highest-paid coach in NBA history.
It’s a huge payday for Kerr and further confirmation that the team’s front office still believes in him and the way he is leading the Warriors.
