With a 9-10 record and the tenth spot in the Western Conference, some fans of the Golden State Warriors are crying for change.
They want head coach Steve Kerr to alter how he approaches the lineup and the use of veterans.
Some of them also want to toy with the idea of making a trade to beef up the roster.
On Hoops Tonight, Jason Timpf spoke about a possible trade that he believes could help the team, especially in the playoffs.
Timpf sees value in trading away Jonathan Kuminga in favor of another player, perhaps Jerami Grant of the Portland Trail Blazers.
He thinks this will help increase the team’s offensive power, especially in the starting lineup, and will also make the team more capable in the postseason.
Like many Warriors fans, Timpf thinks that Kuminga is a talented young player and predicts great things from him in the future.
But he doesn’t feel that he fits well into the five-man lineup in Golden State.
He believes that if Kuminga were packaged together in a deal with Chris Paul, the Warriors could gain a player such as Grant or maybe someone from the Toronto Raptors.
Timpf thinks the Warriors need to push their “chips in” and wager a lot to gain a lot if they wish to return to another championship in the Stephen Curry era.
This season, Kuminga is averaging 11.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists on 45.3% from the floor.
This is just his third season in the league and he is only 21 years old, which means he could have long-lasting value for several teams if the Warriors initiate a trade.
Is this Golden State’s key to another playoff run?
