It hasn’t been the best season for Klay Thompson.
In fact, it’s been the worst season in the career of the iconic Golden State Warriors star in many ways.
This has led to nasty commentary from fans, analysts, and writers.
But former NBA player Danny Green told 95.7 The Game, via NBACentral, that Thompson deserves more appreciation and some patience.
“Klay’s getting a lot of hell on social media, which is nuts. This is a guy who’s earned the right to have a rough year once in a while. He’s had a great decade-long playing career. Bad years happen sometimes,” Green said.

During the first 49 games of the season, Thompson has averaged 17 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists on 41.5% from the floor and 36.8% from the three-point line.
Those are the lowest percentages of Thompson’s career.
Green claims that bad seasons happen and they shouldn’t discount the years and years of hard work that Thompson has given the Warriors.
There are many, including teammates and head coach Steve Kerr, who say that the Warriors wouldn’t have won their four championships without Thompson.
He might be having a bad year but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been a pivotal part of the team for years now.
It’s clear that the front office knows that because they didn’t make any moves to get rid of Thompson at the recent trade deadline.
There were rumors that the team was going to make some big changes, possibly even shipping Thompson away, but they ended up sticking with the roster they have now.
Of course, that doesn’t mean they won’t change their mind in the summer but the Warriors are holding onto Thompson, at least for now.
There have been signs of Thompson working himself out of this rut so perhaps his bad year is turning around.
